Job Title: Senior Accountant
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will support the accounting team by managing key components of the month-end close process and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. This role is critical in stabilizing workload due to team turnover and requires a candidate who can operate independently and contribute immediately.

- This is a contract role with no potential for full-time conversion
- Extension possible based on business needs
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure accurate financial reporting in the general ledger in accordance with GAAP
- Prepare and upload journal entries, including booking and validation
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain proper supporting documentation
Analysis & Reconciliation
- Investigate significant variances and unexpected results
- Review and assess exception reports from both quantitative and qualitative perspectives
- Provide detailed financial analysis to support business decisions
Audit & Compliance Support
- Assist with preparing documentation and responding to requests from external auditors and internal audit teams
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with FP&A and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on financial data
- Lead meetings with internal customers and management to review account balances and ensure proper accruals
- Serve as a liaison between Finance and business units regarding P&L inquiries and financial questions
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify and recommend process improvements to increase operational efficiency
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and general ledger systems to develop models and streamline accounting processes
- Implement tools and enhancements to improve data accuracy and reduce manual effort
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform ad hoc accounting and financial analysis tasks as needed
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of accounting experience
- Strong experience with month-end close processes, including:
- Journal entries
- Balance sheet reconciliations
- Variance analysis
- Experience working with FP&A teams
- Solid understanding of GAAP
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently and manage workload with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting audits (external and internal)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience driving process improvements and system enhancements
