Well-established and respected company in Oswego County is looking for a Logistics Specialist to help manage the import operations. This position would be responsible with working with internal and external shareholders on shipping/receiving logistics, import/export documentation, and other related processes. Primary responsibilities would include:
- Review and process import transactions and documentation
- Ensure that all imports are in compliance with applicable international and national regulations and laws
- Maintain updated knowledge of changing import laws and regulations
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports and documents related to import activities
- Negotiate with vendors and suppliers to ensure equitable pricing and delivery scheduling
- Organize and file import documentation to ensure information is readily available for internal teams and customs brokers.
- Monitor inbound international shipments from booking through delivery and identify changes in status or timing.
- Communicate regularly with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to obtain shipment updates and clarify information.
- Provide clear, timely shipment status updates to the Purchasing, Engineering, and Finance
- Coordinate with various departments and individuals such as suppliers, shippers, and customs agents for smooth import procedures
- Manage the customs declaration process and ensure proper tariff classification
Candidate profile should include:
- 2 years of experience in logistics including experience working with import/exports operations
- Bachelors or Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field
- Excellent communicative and organizational skills
- Experience working in manufacturing or distributions preferred
