Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Machinist with strong milling and lathe expertise to join our team in a direct hire capacity.
This is a newly created role offering a unique opportunity to take full ownership of machining operations. This position will operate as a one-person department initially, making it ideal for a highly skilled professional who thrives in an independent environment and takes pride in precision, organization, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities

Set up, operate, and maintain CNC and/or manual milling machines and lathes

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications

Independently manage incoming jobs, prioritize workflow, and meet deadlines

Perform quality inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)

Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments as needed

Maintain equipment and ensure optimal machine performance

Establish and improve processes, workflows, and best practices

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace
Qualifications

5 years of machining experience (milling and lathe required)

CNC setup and operation experience strongly preferred

Previous lead or supervisory experience is a plus

Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints

High attention to detail and commitment to quality

Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude

Valid Connecticut driver's license and reliable transportation
