Nesco Resource is seeking a reliable and experienced 1st Shift Shipping Supervisor to join our clients team in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for overseeing 2nd shift operations, ensuring timely and accurate shipping, and maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities/Primary Functions:
- Supervise and lead 2nd shift shipping team members (approximately 25 associates)
- Oversee daily shipping activities including scanning and documentation
- Ensure shipping deadlines and quality standards are met
- Monitor and support inventory control and material flow
- Utilize Microsoft Office (including Excel) to manage reports and schedules
- Communicate effectively with 1st and 3rd shift supervisors for shift transitions
- Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to team members
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
- Report issues or discrepancies to Shipping Manager in a timely manner
- Performs other duties as assigned/required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of shipping experience in a manufacturing or logistics setting
- Prior supervisory experience required (preferably in automotive manufacturing)
- Must have at least one (1) year or more of experience in a technical hands-on position, including shipping, receiving and/or dock work
- Proficient in scanning systems and shipping documentation
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work 1st shift and occasionally flexible hours if needed
- Forklift certification
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principle
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to pass a preemployment screening
