Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed project cost estimates beginning with quantity takeoffs and continuing through the transition to the bid submission stage.
  • Utilize ConEst estimating software to support estimating and pricing activities.
  • Produce pricing and documentation related to project change orders.
  • Evaluate labor and material quantities required to complete electrical projects.
  • Participate in pre-bid conferences and scope clarification meetings as needed.
  • Calculate pricing and submit competitive project bids.
  • Interpret and work from construction drawings and specifications with a high level of accuracy.
  • Complete digital takeoffs and drawing markups using on-screen estimating tools.
  • Coordinate with engineers, clients, vendors, and project management teams throughout the estimating process.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and determine labor, materials, and equipment needs.
  • Request and review vendor quotes to obtain accurate pricing information.
  • Review and evaluate equipment rental or leasing costs related to project work.
  • Organize and maintain change order documentation using consistent internal standards, collaborating with project teams to establish and maintain these processes.
  • Assess project requirements to determine appropriate labor and material allocations.
  • Attend bid review and scope discussion meetings as part of the estimating process.

Education & Experience

Required

  • One of the following experience/education combinations:
    • 6–8 years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or
    • 4–6 years of experience with an Associate degree, or
    • 0–2 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Proficiency with computers and industry software, including Bluebeam, ConEst, and Google Workspace.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and low-voltage electrical systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and assess project specifications and construction drawings.
  • Strong capability to interact professionally and effectively with customers.
  • Experience evaluating potential risks associated with different project scopes.
  • Ability to estimate projects of varying sizes and levels of complexity.
  • Comfortable working in deadline-driven environments and managing external pressure.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred

  • Practical, hands-on experience in the construction field.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license.
