Nesco Resource is seeking an Operations Lead to join our client's team at their Ansonia, CT location. This is a 6 month contract assignment with the potential to become permanent.
SUMMARY:
The Operations Lead is responsible for end-to-end production performance within the manufacturing cell. This role owns production execution, customer communication, KPI performance, staffing strategy, and material flow to ensure delivery, quality, and safety objectives are consistently met. This position serves as the primary operational liaison between the site and drives accountability across production, materials, and support functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Production & Schedule Ownership
- Lead daily production activities to meet schedule, quality, and output requirements.
- Manage and maintain the production schedule to meet target delivery dates.
- Escalate to site management issues impacting product quality, delivery, safety, or customer satisfaction.
- Drive OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance.
- Serve as primary point of contact for production status updates to customer.
- Address customer questions, requests, and delivery concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate risks proactively and develop mitigation plans.
- Publish weekly production KPIs (Yield per BOM, EOL First Pass Yield, Days-on-Hand, OTIF, etc.).
- Analyze performance trends and drive corrective actions.
- Present performance updates to site leadership and customer when required.
- Publish weekly material inventory reports (on-hand inventory, discrepancies, shortages).
- Manage Kanban / Supermarket processes for WIP assemblies.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Planning to prevent material disruptions.
- Oversee and manage indirect labor (IDL) resources.
- Maintain and update the operator training matrix.
- Develop hiring plans to support second-shift staffing requirements.
- Support cross-training and succession planning within the cell.
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement Lean improvements.
- Drive accountability for safety, quality and 5S compliance.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent and/or technical degree.
- 5 years supervisory experience in a highly regulated environment or similar setting (electromechanical assembly, medical device, cleanroom, plastics).
- 1-3 years of experience in similar roles within a manufacturing company (plastics industry preferred).
- Computer knowledge is required; IQMS system experience a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Must be accurate and self-paced.
- Must be familiar with visual inspection and packaging requirement.

- Pay rate: up to $52/hour
