Nesco Data Center and Infrastructure is seeking an Engagement Manager in the Greater PHX area!

Job Summary:
The Engagement Manager (EM) serves as the vital link between clients and the service delivery team, ensuring project success through expert management of client relationships, expectations, resources, and deliverables. The EM is responsible for driving project outcomes, solving problems, identifying growth opportunities, and embodying leadership and deep industry expertise. This role emphasizes project oversight, stakeholder communication, team coordination, quality delivery, and continuous value creation for clients. The Engagement Manager will also contribute to business development and practice growth, working closely with sales and leadership to expand client relationships and service offerings.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate multiple teams of internal consultants and project managers/project coordinators, leveraging specialized expertise to meet clients' needs.

  • Serve as the first line for team reviews and individual feedback, working with other Engagement Managers to understand successes, challenges, and action plans of team members.

  • Elevate issues to leadership as needed and schedule regular one-on-one meetings with team members for development and training feedback.

  • Plan and facilitate team activities to foster engagement and morale.

Key Responsibilities:

Client & Practice Support

  • Build trust with clients, manage expectations, resolve issues, and ensure client satisfaction.

  • Maintain strong communication with clients within the portfolio of work on overall team delivery and any escalated challenges.

  • Collect and report metrics on project portfolio with concise updates and status reports to internal leadership.

Delivery Management

  • Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with sales; support proposals and business development calls.

  • Assign resources, manage budgets, and oversee portfolio of work across multiple projects/clients in coordination with peers and leadership.

  • Ensure portfolio aligns with contracts and delivers high-quality results, including quality assurance (QA) and user acceptance testing (UAT) of deliverables as needed.

  • Conduct engagement checkpoints and deliverable reviews to ensure industry-leading practices are incorporated.

Resource Management

  • Coordinate internal consultants and leverage subject matter expertise to meet clients' needs.

  • Ensure workload is properly distributed and team members are supported in their roles.

Sales & Practice Growth

  • Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities, working with sales to expand business with existing clients.

  • Collaborate with sales teams and leadership on proposals and business development calls.

  • Contribute to practice growth by supporting the creation and marketing of new service offerings.

Reporting & Communication

  • Measure and report key service delivery KPIs, including Book to Billing timeline attainment, onboarding cycle time, project margin variance, utilization, and capacity planning. Provide regular updates and status reports to leadership.

  • Maintain documentation and contribute to thought leadership materials, including white papers and presentations.

Team Communications & Development

  • Reach out to individual team members regularly to discuss current engagements, challenges, and successes.

  • Engage the team as a whole periodically to gauge morale, address issues, and communicate office initiatives.

  • Plan and facilitate team activities and professional development opportunities.

Market Development

  • Participate in quarterly roundtables, develop white papers, and deliver local market presentations.

  • Seek speaking opportunities at local and national conferences, contributing to organizational visibility and thought leadership.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant subject area; Master's degree preferred.

  • Industry certifications or additional education preferred (Master's degree or higher in lieu of certifications).

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in consulting, project management, or a related field.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams in dynamic environments.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams and stakeholders.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in areas such as Information Technology, Cloud, Transformation, Machine Learning / AI, Strategy and Governance, Assessment, or Cybersecurity.

  • Background in professional service organizations preferred.

  • High-level analytical and problem-solving abilities, with creativity and the capacity to address complex issues.

  • Industry expertise in areas such as Wealth Management, Construction, Private Cloud, Cybersecurity, Accounting, and Risk & Compliance.

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile/Scrum) and tools (e.g., Jira).

  • Self-starter, adaptable, empathetic, objective, and results-oriented.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including client presentations and contributions to professional materials.

  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
