NOC Technician
Position Summary
The NOC Technician is responsible for monitoring and responding to alerts and tickets generated by remote monitoring and management (RMM) systems. This role plays a key part in maintaining the health, performance, and stability of client IT environments by identifying issues, performing initial troubleshooting, and escalating when necessary.
The NOC Technician works within defined Tier 1 responsibilities, ensuring timely response and documentation of incidents. This position also communicates with clients as needed to provide status updates and resolution details. The role reports to the Supervisor of RMM Operations.
Primary Responsibilities

Monitor alerts and tickets generated through systems management and monitoring platforms.

Respond to incidents and service requests in alignment with established performance standards.

Perform operating system and application patching in accordance with documented procedures.

Monitor endpoints, servers, and managed network devices including firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.

Conduct initial troubleshooting and remediation within Tier 1 scope.

Escalate network-related issues to Tier 2 Network Administrators.

Escalate systems management or platform-related issues to Senior NOC Technicians.

Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely documentation within the ticketing system.

Communicate recurring issues and relevant updates to leadership as required.

Assist with operational initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Follow established policies, procedures, and operational standards.
Technical Skills & Knowledge

Experience using remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools to oversee endpoints, servers, and infrastructure health.

Familiarity with ticketing systems for managing alerts and service requests.

Understanding of NOC dashboards, alert queues, and event notifications.

Basic proficiency with remote access tools for validation and first-level remediation.

Working knowledge of operating system patching processes and reporting.

Familiarity with monitoring and assessing the status of network devices such as firewalls, switches, and wireless access points.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school, or

Six months to one year of related technical experience, or

Equivalent combination of education and experience.
