Mold Setter Technician

3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
$22 to $28 per hour on experience



Position Overview
Responsible for mold changes, press setup, and preparation of injection molding machines to support scheduled production. Ensures molds are installed safely, correctly, and efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.

This role primarily focuses on tooling setup and production readiness, with expanding required responsibilities in process-related development and skills.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform mold changes, setup, and teardown of injection molding presses according to the production schedule
  • Learn to develop, set, and optimize process parameters (temps, pressures, speeds, cushion, pack/hold, etc.)
  • Install and secure molds, water lines, air lines, heaters, and auxiliary equipment
  • Verify proper clamp tonnage, hookups, and baseline startup settings prior to production release
  • Learn to Improve cycle time and efficiency
  • Ensure molds and equipment are clean, staged, and ready for efficient changeovers
  • Complete required documentation per established work instructions
  • Learn to Troubleshoot part defects (flash, short shot, splay, warp, sink, etc.)
Key Duties
  • Execute scheduled mold changeovers in alignment with the molding press schedule
  • Confirm tooling is properly installed and production-ready before startup
  • Perform basic startup checks and communicate any processing concerns to Process Technicians or Engineering
  • Assist with material staging and hopper loading as needed
  • Learn to Lead root cause analysis for molding issues
  • Support Quality during first-piece verification and ensure press is ready for release
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior injection mold setting experience
  • Willingness to support basic process adjustments under direction
  • Interest in developing the required process knowledge and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and commitment to safe work practices
