Job Description: Mig Welder

MIG Welder fabricates and repairs metal components, primarily using MIG welding techniques on steel, stainless steel, and aluminum . Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, setting up machinery, inspecting welds, and ensuring high-quality, precise fabrication. This on-site, full-time role requires safety compliance, strong attention to detail, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities & Job Functions

  • Welding Production: Perform high-quality MIG welding on various metal materials.
  • Blueprint Reading: Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to execute accurate work.
  • Equipment Setup: Set up, maintain, and operate welding equipment, including selecting proper wire, gases, and tools.
  • Material Preparation: Clean, cut, grind, and prepare metal surfaces prior to welding.
  • Quality Inspection: Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Safety & Maintenance: Follow safety protocols (PPE usage) and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a MIG Welder (often in a manufacturing environment).
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
  • Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and hand-eye coordination.
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, and work in various positions for extended periods.

  • Requirements
  • Sets clamps to specified length as indicated by paperwork
  • Positions work piece against stops
  • Types in active program number and pushes button to activate machine
  • Observes machine operation to detect work piece defecte or machine operation
  • Makes sure work order is completed with adequate number of parts
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece
  • Makes sure work efficiency is correct

Education and/or Experience:
No experience required. Position is entry level and can be trained.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate efficiently in both written and oral form.

Mathmematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but involved written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat adn reach, grasp, push and pull using arms and legs. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 25lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Specific vision abilitles required by this job include the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics descibed here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level and air quality are usually moderate. The employee will encounter hydraulic and other oils as well and various types of metal components. Department Hours are subject to change based on customer demands. Employees in this area should be prepared as hours change and can do so by request of the plant manager.
All plants are on the same break schedule - no 10 minute afternoon break.

Overtime and weekends are required when requested by our department manager, plant manager due to customer demand. We have been known to work Monday to Sunday. This department does not typically work SUndays but they can ask should a customer or our production drive us to need to do so. other operators on key work or machines as required.
Essential Functions

  • Set up and operate press brake for established work.
  • Load, install and correctly set up the tools required.
  • Optimize process to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Clock in and out of operations according to sequence number start date of the work order.
  • Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using proper gauges.
  • Read all notes on travelers and prints prior to running parts.
  • Fill out job Traveler, time sheets, Inspection Documents and any other paperwork associated with the part.
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures.
  • Meets agreed upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
  • Arrives to work, meetings, appointments, and other work-related functions on time and as scheduled with a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Non-Essential Duties
  • Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
  • Assists in formulating departmental strategic plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must own tools for daily tasks (i.e. micrometers, calipers, edge finders, etc.)
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and work order instructions.
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to take verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of machine programming
  • Ability to work well in a fast pace work environment to meet team expectations.
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed.
Working Conditions
Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
Equipment/Machinery Used
Calipers, debur tools, hand grinders, pallet jack, forklift, and computer.
Physical Requirements
Lifting to 50lbs, pushing, pulling, climbing, and balancing frequent stooping, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time, fine finger dexterity, vision protection and other appropriate protective clothing.
