Quality Inspector – Primary Function
Ensure both internal and external customers receive a high-quality ambulance by performing thorough inspections prior to shipment and identifying any required repairs or corrections.
Key Responsibilities

Inspect ambulances and emergency vehicles to ensure quality standards are met before delivery

Perform road tests and functional testing of completed units
-
Conduct water testing, identify leaks, and complete necessary repairs
-
Perform final cosmetic inspections and complete cosmetic tags
-
Verify vehicle options against customer orders
-
Report design deficiencies and recommend improvements to design and assembly processes
-
Document defects and warrantable items in the system with detailed reporting
-
Enter inspection data into computer systems and generate reports

Update production tracking boards
-
Notify supervisor/lead of scheduling delays or maintenance issues

Follow departmental work instructions and production schedules
-
Train and assist new inspectors as needed
-
Fill in for lead inspector when required
-
Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials
-
Follow Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan, spill response procedures, and evacuation protocols
-
Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, OSHA, and EPA regulations

Drive and road test vehicles as part of the inspection process
Qualifications & Skills
-
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
-
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly prints, and schematics
-
Proficient in reading English and metric tape measures and using measuring devices
-
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet quality and production standards

Knowledge of basic 12-volt electrical systems
-
Strong mechanical aptitude, including understanding of drivetrains and power units
-
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
-
Experience using inspection gauges and hand tools

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Ability to present information clearly in one-on-one or small group settings
-
Valid driver's license
-
Maintain required Quality Inspector "A” rating per company standards

Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
-
Hazardous Materials Handling certification (annual refresher required)
