Overview
Client is seeking an experienced Network Tech Lead to design, implement, and optimize modern enterprise and data center networks while mentoring engineers and driving best practices. This role is hands-on and leadership-focused, with strong emphasis on SD-WAN, BGP/OSPF routing, EVPN-VXLAN, Cisco/Arista, wireless (MIST preferred), and network automation (Ansible, Python, APIs, Terraform).

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead network engineering initiatives and provide technical direction across projects and operations

  • Design and implement SD-WAN and EVPN-VXLAN network solutions

  • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize BGP and OSPF routing in complex enterprise environments

  • Implement and support Cisco and Arista switching/routing platforms

  • Build and maintain automation workflows using Ansible, Python, REST APIs, and Terraform

  • Partner with cross-functional teams and mentor engineers to deliver scalable, secure solutions

  • Create and maintain network documentation, standards, and SOPs

  • Participate in on-call rotation to support network reliability

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (minimum)

  • 8 years of IT/networking experience, including 2–3 years in a senior or technical leadership role

  • Hands-on experience with EVPN-VXLAN deployments

  • Strong routing/switching expertise: BGP, OSPF, LAN, SD-WAN

  • Experience with Cisco and Arista platforms (configuration, optimization, troubleshooting)

  • Network automation experience using Ansible plus scripting (Python) and REST APIs

  • Strong communication skills and ability to lead in cross-functional, global environments

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills or Experience

  • MIST wireless (design, deployment, optimization)

  • Cloud networking and hybrid environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)

  • OT / manufacturing environment experience

  • Certifications such as CCIE or JNCIE (or equivalent); Arista and/or MIST certifications

  • Terraform and broader Infrastructure as Code experience

Work Details (include only if present: schedule, location, onsite/hybrid/remote, travel, contract duration)

  • Hybrid preferred: 1–2 days/week onsite; candidates ideally within ~1 hour of Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm; overtime possible; flexibility may be needed for global teams

  • Contract: anticipated 12-month assignment with potential extension

  • Travel: up to 30% (may include international travel; higher during critical projects). If domestic-only travel, note "available for domestic travel only” on the profile.
