Nesco Resource is now hiring for a Quality Control Technician -Electro/ Mechanical Assembler!

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician with experience testing and inspecting electro/mechanical assemblies, preferably within the photonics or laser manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience performing inspections, executing functional tests, documenting results, and identifying nonconformances. This role is critical to ensuring the quality, reliability, and functionality of our laser products through consistent verification of workmanship and performance.

Work Schedule-
Monday through Friday 7am to 4pm


General Accountabilities

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics to verify assemblies meet specifications.
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of electro/mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.
  • Execute functional and electrical tests using documented test procedures and defined pass/fail criteria.
  • Use test equipment such as digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, continuity testers, and other diagnostic tools as required.
  • Validate wiring integrity through continuity checks, polarity verification, voltage/current checks, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Inspect workmanship including wire routing/dress, connector integrity, labeling, fastening/torque, and general assembly quality.
  • Document inspection and test results accurately (paper/electronic), including serial/lot traceability and deviation details.
  • Identify defects and initiate nonconformance documentation (NCRs); work with Production and Engineering to support root cause and corrective actions.
  • Communicate test failures and quality concerns clearly and promptly to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Support calibration verification and proper handling of measurement/test tools as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized QC/test area and follow all company safety, ESD, and quality policies.
  • Provide input for process improvements and recommend updates to inspection checklists and test procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in electronics, electro/mechanical, or quality is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Quality Control, Test Technician, Inspection, or a closely related electro/mechanical role.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Hands-on experience using inspection and test tools such as DMMs, calipers, and gauges (oscilloscope experience is a plus).
  • Familiarity with electro/mechanical build elements such as wiring harnesses, connectors, crimping/termination, and basic soldering (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation habits.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in photonics, laser systems, optics manufacturing, or other high-reliability industries (medical, aerospace, etc.).
  • Familiarity with quality standards and workmanship practices (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620, ISO 9001 environment).
  • Experience troubleshooting failures to the assembly or component level.
