Position Overview
The US Payroll Operations Supervisor leads the team responsible for the daily coordination and execution of employee payroll activities in partnership with managed services providers. This role supervises Payroll Operations and Employee Services Specialists, as well as any temporary labor required to ensure accurate, complete, and timely payroll processing.
The Payroll Supervisor serves as the internal point of escalation for payroll-related issues and acts as the primary day-to-day liaison with managed services providers (ADP and Ceridian).
Key Accountabilities
Payroll Operations & Oversight

Supervise a team of 4 Payroll team members, plus temporary staff as needed.

Oversee daily payroll operations including work allocation, training, and incident resolution.

Provide review and approval of payroll-related actions while maintaining segregation of duties and strong internal controls.

Assist with testing payroll and time system functionality, as well as policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with audit requirements and internal control standards.

Maintain SOX compliance and support internal and external auditor requests.

Prepare and maintain payroll procedures and documentation.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management

Manage the day-to-day relationship with Managed Services Providers (ADP and Ceridian) to ensure payroll accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

Serve as primary liaison between Payroll and HR Operational Services, Benefits, Compensation, Talent Acquisition, and Finance.

Analyze tickets within ServiceNow and ADP CRM to identify trends and recommend process improvements.

Act as Tier 2 escalation support for unresolved payroll tickets.
Quarter & Year-End Leadership

Lead quarter- and year-end payroll activities including:

Pay analysis

Payroll balancing and corrective entries

Fleet, cross-border, perquisites, and relocation off-cycle payrolls

W-2 reconciliation and W-2c processing

Team Leadership & Development
-
Coach, develop, and mentor Payroll Operations and Employee Service Specialists.

Build organizational capacity and continuously improve payroll operations effectiveness.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
-
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

5 years of multi-state, multi-entity, high-volume payroll processing experience (7,000 employees)

3 years of Payroll Team supervisory/leadership experience (required)

ADP GlobalView (preferred)

SuccessFactors HR (preferred)

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred
Additional Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations

Deep understanding of the end-to-end payroll processing cycle, including quarter and year-end requirements

Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including strong Excel proficiency

Exceptional analytical and organizational skills

Ability to synthesize information, apply sound judgment, and communicate data clearly to stakeholders
