We are hiring experienced Shipbuilders / Fitters to join a high-volume marine fabrication and ship repair operation in Philadelphia, PA. This is a direct-hire role with full benefits and steady work for candidates who can pass a weld test and marine blueprint reading test.
What You'll Be Doing

Perform structural welding and fitting in an active shipyard environment

Read and interpret marine and shipbuilding blueprints

Assemble plate, stiffeners, web frames, and large structural panels

Work on double bottoms, large panels, and pre-outfitting assemblies

Cut, fit, and fabricate heavy steel components

Use shipyard tools including grinders, torches, and layout tools

Perform work in fabrication shops, dry dock, and yard production areas

Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow hot-work safety procedures

Protect surrounding equipment, machinery, and painted surfaces during hot work
Requirements

Minimum 4 years of shipyard experience (shipbuilding or ship repair)

Strong experience with structural steel welding and fitting

Ability to read and interpret marine blueprints

Experience with heavy steel fabrication (plate, stiffeners, panels)

Must pass:

Weld test

Marine blueprint reading test

High School Diploma or GED

Strong safety awareness in industrial environments
Compensation & Benefits

$28–$30 per hour
Quarterly bonus -
$150 per day per diem
Full benefits package -
