Quality Control Technician I

Role Overview

This position supports manufacturing operations by performing inspections, testing, and documentation to ensure products meet technical and quality specifications. The technician works closely with Quality and Engineering teams to verify conformance, identify issues, and support continuous improvement in an ISO-regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical components and assemblies against drawings, specifications, and test plans.

  • Perform first-article inspections on internally produced and vendor-supplied parts.

  • Conduct functional and design testing under guidance from Quality or Engineering.

  • Document inspection results accurately in both quality records and the ERP system, including lot and serial tracking.

  • Initiate nonconformance reports or rejection notices when materials do not meet requirements.

  • Perform in-process manufacturing audits to confirm adherence to approved procedures.

  • Maintain control and security of quarantined materials and devices.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with ISO 9001:2015 standards.

  • Assist with departmental metrics, data collection, and reporting as needed.

  • Perform other quality-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience (Preferred)

  • At least 2 years in a Quality Inspector or QC Technician role working with electro-mechanical components.

  • 2 years of manufacturing or assembly experience.

  • Experience in a regulated or ISO 9001 environment is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, pin gauges, and dial indicators.

  • Ability to operate inspection equipment including CMM, comparators, and height gauges.

  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and assembly instructions.

  • Comfortable working in an ERP system and Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to organize, analyze, and report measurement data clearly and accurately.

  • Capable of working in a fast-paced production environment while pulling samples from the shop floor.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods during an 8–10 hour shift.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

  • Must be able to work safely in a manufacturing environment that includes noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.

  • Vision requirements include normal visual acuity (correctable to 20/20), including depth and color perception.
