A major client of ours is an established property management and brokerage firm, with ownership of commercial, residential, and medical properties. They are looking for a Full Charge Bookkeeper for their Garden City, NY office. This is a permanent position. Fridays are work from home.

Position Overview

We are looking for a versatile professional who can manage accounts receivable functions while also supporting accounts payable and general bookkeeping duties. This position reports to the Controller. The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and can wear multiple hats as needed. (MUST HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE WORKING FOR PROPERTY MANAGEMENT COMPANY).

Position Overview

  • Hybrid accounting role supporting both accounts receivable and bookkeeping functions

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable

  • Apply daily payments including checks, wires, and ACH
  • Prepare and enter billing, credits, and adjustments for monthly statements
  • Generate, review, and analyze monthly reports
  • Manage collections and follow up on overdue accounts professionally
  • Process and reconcile security deposits
  • Prepare weekly cash reports for managed properties
  • Track and support new residential leases and renewals
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing related to accounts receivable

Bookkeeping / Accounts Payable

  • Perform bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries as needed
  • Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
  • Support accounts payable functions as required
  • Coordinate with external accountants and advisors
  • Create and maintain new property files
  • Collect and organize tax, insurance, and utility documentation

Qualifications

  • MUST have  experience in real estate accounting or property management
  • Experience with Yardi Breeze or other Yardi platforms strongly preferred
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
  • Tech-savvy with openness to using AI and automation tools
  • Experience handling collections and tenant communications
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
