Slitter Machine Operator
Location: Apple Creek, OH
Position Summary
Operate and perform routine maintenance on slitting machines that cut large paper rolls into specified widths for further processing or finished product.
Key Responsibilities

Load and unload paper rolls using a clamp fork truck; lift up to 60 lbs as needed

Set up the slitter machine, including blade setup, blade changes, and removal of damaged material

Thread paper through rollers and secure it to cores or tucks

Adjust machine components to match roll width
-
Start machines slowly, make quality adjustments, and increase speed once quality standards are met

Move finished rolls to roll-off tables, label with part numbers, and palletize as needed
-
Transport finished rolls to the warehouse or winding area
-
Inspect work during setup and production; ensure accuracy of tubes, documentation, inspections, and production rates
Additional Duties

Read work orders and specifications to determine materials and setup requirements

Retrieve boxes and pallets for finished products

Perform dimensional inspections and request second inspections when required

Maintain a clean and organized work area

Tools used:

Calipers and micrometers

Education
-
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
-
Stand, walk, bend, crouch, and use hands throughout the shift
-
Frequently lift up to 30 lbs; occasionally lift up to 60 lbs

Work in an indoor manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels
-
Hearing protection and other PPE may be required
-
Overtime, including weekends, may be required
