Slitter Machine Operator

Location: Apple Creek, OH

Position Summary

Operate and perform routine maintenance on slitting machines that cut large paper rolls into specified widths for further processing or finished product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload paper rolls using a clamp fork truck; lift up to 60 lbs as needed

  • Set up the slitter machine, including blade setup, blade changes, and removal of damaged material

  • Thread paper through rollers and secure it to cores or tucks

  • Adjust machine components to match roll width

  • Start machines slowly, make quality adjustments, and increase speed once quality standards are met

  • Move finished rolls to roll-off tables, label with part numbers, and palletize as needed

  • Transport finished rolls to the warehouse or winding area

  • Inspect work during setup and production; ensure accuracy of tubes, documentation, inspections, and production rates

Additional Duties

  • Read work orders and specifications to determine materials and setup requirements

  • Retrieve boxes and pallets for finished products

  • Perform dimensional inspections and request second inspections when required

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Inspections & Tools

Inspections include:

  • Material thickness

  • Tape width

  • Roll inside and outside diameter

Tools used:

  • Calipers and micrometers

  • Tape measure

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Stand, walk, bend, crouch, and use hands throughout the shift

  • Frequently lift up to 30 lbs; occasionally lift up to 60 lbs

  • Work in an indoor manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels

  • Hearing protection and other PPE may be required

  • Overtime, including weekends, may be required
