The Printing Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a printing press to produce folded cartons that meet customer and quality specifications. This role involves accurately following job documentation, preparing plates and inks, monitoring print quality and production speeds, and making adjustments as needed. The operator ensures proper data entry, performs routine maintenance, communicates effectively with all departments, and supports efficient production while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up printing press, mount plates, and prepare ink for folded carton jobs
  • Adjust ink flow, color, and viscosity to meet customer specifications
  • Operate and monitor press performance to ensure print quality and efficiency
  • Follow job orders, input data into software, and use tools to verify color accuracy
  • Troubleshoot issues, document non-conformances, and coordinate with supervisors
  • Perform routine maintenance and communicate with teams to ensure smooth production
  • Other duties as needed

Job Requirements
  • Knowledge of printing press operation, setup, and troubleshooting for folded cartons
  • KBA experience a PLUS
  • Ability to read and follow job bags, work instructions, and customer specifications
  • Basic math skills for job setup and production calculations
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry into manufacturing software
  • Experience with color control tools (e.g., Press Sign software, densitometer)
  • Ability to mix inks accurately and adjust ink flow, viscosity, and coatings
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine and preventive maintenance
  • Ability to identify, document, and report non-conformances and equipment issues
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a preemployment screening


SHIFT: 2 nd (Monday through Friday 2 pm to 12 am)
SALARY: $22 to $28 an hour based on experience
