We are hiring a Machine Operator (Extrusion) responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring extrusion machines to produce thermoplastic products that meet customer specifications. This role includes loading materials, adjusting machine controls and feed rates, inspecting product quality, identifying defects or malfunctions, completing production documentation, and maintaining a high level of safety awareness at all times. Candidates should have 3 years of machine operating experience (plastics or extrusion preferred), strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read measuring tools, basic math and computer skills. Position: Machine Operator (Extrusion)
Shift: Nights - 10pm – 10am (Monday 6 am to 10 am and 10 pm to Tuesday 10 am, Tuesday 10 pm to Wednesday 10 am and Wednesday 10 pm to Thursday 10 am plus OT as needed)
Rate: $19-22 per hour depending on experience ( .75 shift diff for nights) Bonus every 6 months

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Start up, set up, operate, and tend machine that extrudes thermoplastics to meet customer specifications and dimensions according to work orders.
· Load materials into extruder and adjust feed mechanisms to set feed rates.
· Move controls to activate and adjust for extruding process.
· Observe machine operations, control boards, and gauges to detect any defective material or any machine malfunctions.
· Press the correct buttons to stop machine when processes are complete or when malfunctions are detected.
· Responsible for detailed completion of work orders and production reports.
· Operator must always be mentally alert on the machine.
· Operator who is not alert runs a great risk of getting injured or injuring another employee.
· Training will include other duties on the production floor to help understand all positions and processes.
· Performs other duties and assignments as directed by management.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
· 3 years as a machine operator, preferably in some kind of plastic environment (preferred).
· Previous extrusion experience and knowledge of plastic sheet extrusion process a plus.
· Tow motor driving experience. Forklift certification a plus
· Must be able to read a tape measure
· Ability to read measuring devices such as ruler, caliper, dial indicator, micrometer and scale
· Manual dexterity and ability to use all hand tools in order to set up and operate extruder
· Mathematical aptitude
· Basic computer skills a plus
· High school diploma/GED minimum
· Ability to pass a preemployment screening
