Design Engineer II

Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 BOE

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Design Engineer II to join our R&D Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this mid-level role focuses on the advanced design, development, and testing of new products that expand and strengthen our product portfolio. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, hands-on testing experience, and the ability to translate customer needs into high-quality, manufacturable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of design verification and validation plans.
- Drive key performance indicators (KPIs) to support continuous improvement and project success.
- Develop advanced test procedures, fixtures, and rigs; generate detailed test documentation and lab reports.
- Solve complex engineering problems using analytical methods, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving.
- Build and maintain deep knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.
- Lead Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities.
- Communicate effectively with customers ranging from OEM partners to homeowners.
- Translate customer needs into clear technical requirements and communicate them across teams.
- Lead new product development efforts to meet OEM specifications using target cost methodologies.
- Ensure designs account for manufacturing methods, constraints, and scalability.
- Lead material selection and sourcing efforts.
- Create detailed part drawings and bills of materials (BOMs) using Creo.
- Oversee manufacturing teams during first-article builds and initial production runs.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.
- Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- 3–6 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Advanced proficiency in 3D CAD software;
- Extensive hands-on experience with laboratory testing equipment and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and high-impact projects simultaneously.
- Proven leadership capabilities with experience mentoring or guiding others.
