Job Title: Paint Quality Lab Technician:
Paint Quality Lab Technician tests and analyzes painted parts and coatings to ensure they meet IFab's quality standards, performing tasks like adhesion, thickness, and gloss tests, analyzing defects (sags, runs), maintaining lab equipment, documenting results, and collaborating with production to resolve issues, crucial for manufacturing quality .
Key Responsibilities:
- Testing & Analysis: Conduct lab tests (adhesion, DFT, gloss, color match) on parts and raw materials.
- Defect Investigation: Inspect for defects like orange peel, fisheyes, and contamination, supporting root cause analysis.
- Equipment Management: Operate, calibrate, and maintain lab instruments (gauges, gloss meters, ovens).
- Documentation: Accurately record test data, prepare reports, and update logs.
- Collaboration: Work with Paint Supervisors and Quality Engineers to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
- Process Improvement: Assist with product development and process optimization.
- Education: High school diploma (GED); college chemistry/math preferred.
- Experience: Quality lab experience is often required.
- Technical Skills: Knowledge of paint properties, testing methods, and equipment.
- Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, analytical, good communication, ability to follow procedures.
- Setting: Laboratory within a manufacturing/production facility (like IFab in Gastonia, NC).
- Focus: Ensuring compliance with internal standards, customer specs, and industry requirements.
