Job Title: Stamping Operator/Helper
The Associate sets up and runs metal stamping presses, focusing on quality and safety by monitoring dies, inspecting parts for defects, making adjustments, completing paperwork, and maintaining a clean work area, working with materials like coils and dies, and ensuring production runs meet specs. Helpers assist operators, focusing on material handling, machine cleaning, and supporting the process, while operators handle more direct machine setup, adjustments, and quality checks.
Stamping Operator Responsibilities:
- Operation: Run stamping presses (automatic/manual), tend machines for cutting, bending, crimping metal.
- Setup: Load coil stock, mount progressive/transfer dies, perform initial adjustments for quality.
- Quality Control: Conduct First Off/Last Off inspections, check parts against specs, use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
- Troubleshooting: Adjust machines, troubleshoot issues, make minor repairs, communicate problems to supervisors.
- Documentation: Fill out production/quality paperwork, track die history.
- Safety & Housekeeping: Adhere to all safety rules, keep machines clean, report hazards.
- Assist operators with loading/unloading materials, moving parts, and general machine tending.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Support minor tool/die changes and preventative maintenance.
- Experience: Previous manufacturing/metal fabrication preferred; experience with tooling (progressive/transfer) a plus.
- Technical: Ability to read blueprints/work instructions, understand press safety, use basic measuring tools.
- Physical: Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, perform repetitive tasks.
- Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, communication.
