The function of this position is to maintain the operations of extrusions lines, performing all the aspects of extruder teardown and setup, making the correct adjustments and detecting malfunctions, and QA inspections, needed to maintain product specifications.
Duties:
- Comply with Company, State and Federal safety requirements
- Maintain raw material level on assigned machines
- Construct proper packaging (crates, cradles, boxes, etc.) for profile being produced
- Verify length of produced profiles, package per crate book instructions
- Ensure packing label is correct for piece count, color, length
- Cut up scrap and place in gaylords
- Perform all aspects of extruder teardown and set-up
- Perform all aspects of quality functions in accordance with QA work Instructions
- Troubleshoot raw material, die, and mechanical problems
- Adhere to time standards set by Supervisor
- Properly use all standard types of measuring equipment
- Read and understand production drawings and specifications
- Adjust machines and equipment to maintain proper tolerances of profiles being produced
- Participate in training operator trainees
- Assist operator trainees with all aspects of machine operator duties
- Pursue opportunities to improve production line efficiencies - Help leads and supervisors maintain a clean and organized production floor
- Set a work example for other employees
- Identify and report all problems requiring maintenance action
- Clean and organize designated work areas, maintaining good housekeeping
- Perform other duties as assigned by leads, supervisors or managers
- Attend machine until relieved at the end of your shift. Operator instructions must be communicated to the next shift
