Job Title: Outreach Specialist – Veteran Homelessness Initiative
Location: Remote (Arizona-based; travel required within assigned region: Maricopa County, Pima County, or Balance of State)
Employment Type: Temporary (7-month project term)
Position Summary
The Outreach Specialist plays a vital role in advancing Arizona's statewide efforts to end veteran homelessness. Working within one of the state's three Continuums of Care (CoCs)—Maricopa County, Pima County, or the Balance of State—the Outreach Specialist will build partnerships, gather insights, and support the development of a coordinated plan to ensure veterans have access to stable housing and essential services.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct targeted outreach to stakeholders and community partners within the assigned CoC region.

Facilitate meetings (virtual and in-person) with individuals and groups to discuss strategies, challenges, and resource needs.

Gather and document feedback on effective practices and gaps in services or resource allocation.

Develop and maintain a comprehensive directory of local community services and resources, including those not listed in current databases.

Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and Data Analyst to support the creation of a comprehensive statewide plan to address veteran homelessness.

Represent the initiative at community meetings, events, and other outreach opportunities.

Utilize digital tools and social media to enhance engagement and communication efforts.

Maintain accurate records and submit regular progress reports.

Attend all required virtual team meetings and coordinate region-specific activities.
Qualifications
Required:

Minimum 1 year of experience in community outreach, stakeholder engagement, or a related role.

Strong verbal communication and facilitation skills for both virtual and in-person settings.

Proficiency in virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Teams) and digital outreach tools.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

Familiarity with HUD-VASH, SSVF, GPD, and other federal housing programs.

Knowledge of best practices in homeless services and program evaluation.

Understanding of veteran-specific and general homeless service systems in Arizona.

Residence within the assigned CoC region and ability to travel locally as needed.
Preferred:

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Communications, or a related field.

Knowledge of SWOT analysis or similar strategic planning tools.

Military service experience or background working with veteran populations.
Working Conditions

This is a remote position; a laptop and cellphone will be provided.

Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for events or stakeholder meetings.

Regular travel within the assigned region is expected.
