ACCOUNTANT / DIRECT HIRE
Annual Salary - $75K-$80KNesco Resource is a professional recruiting and staffing company. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join the Finance team of our client, an international manufacturing company located in Melville. This is a permanent, in-office role with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the individual will play an integral role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting daily accounting operations. The role involves assisting with general ledger maintenance, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and related functions critical to the success of our client's manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and issue invoices for customer billing and ensure accuracy across multiple subsidiaries.
- Review and verify the accuracy of vendor bills and reconcile discrepancies.
- Record and manage all credit card transactions across various company entities.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns in compliance with local and state regulations.
- Process vendor payments, manage check runs, and maintain up-to-date payables records.
- Maintain organized financial records and ensure proper filing of all accounting documentation.
- Assist with manual inventory adjustments and cost allocation for materials and production jobs.
- Accurately allocate payroll costs by department, project, or job number.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up on overdue balances to ensure timely payments.
- Prepare journal entries and perform monthly account reconciliations.
- Assist in month-end closing activities and preparation of financial reports for the parent company.
- Participate in ad hoc projects and financial analyses as requested by management.
- Maintain a strong understanding of AP/AR functions and cost accounting principles.
- Stay informed and compliant with all financial regulations and company policies.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting and finance functions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing or multi-entity environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skilled in QuickBooks Desktop or equivalent accounting software.
- Understanding of cost accounting and inventory tracking processes preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to assist across functions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, particularly during month-end close cycles.
- Flexibility to work additional hours during peak reporting periods.
