Position is a shift lab technician
Applicant must be willing to work weekends and night shift
Two employees will be on maternity and parental leave and we need to arrange for two temporary workers to cover their absence. The current staffing level and overtime structure will not support the extended absence of two employees. The leave period also coincides with the planned start-up of MAlbeC and will require additional coverage by lab technicians.
Justification
To perform laboratory tests according to prescribed standards and procedures. To determine chemical and physical characteristics or
composition of solid, liquid or gaseous material for such purposes as quality, process and environmental controls and / or product
development.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: (The major activities or end results necessary to fulfill the position requirements on an ongoing basis)
• Coordinate and analyze incoming raw material, in-process and final product samples
• Perform daily and weekly instrument calibrations
• Maintain laboratory instruments
• Maintain accurate and complete records of sample analysis
• Maintain a clean working environment
REQUIREMENTS
• B.S. Degree in Chemistry or related discipline
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with management and production personnel.
• A working knowledge of laboratory equipment, its function and maintenance.
• Must be able to multi-task various laboratory activities.
• Experience handling hazardous chemicals
• Good organization skills.
• Ability to work with computers.
