Position Summary:
The General Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of routine maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the greenhouse facilities, equipment, and surrounding areas remain safe, functional, and in good condition. This position supports day-to-day operations by addressing basic repairs and upkeep as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform general maintenance tasks such as installing or repairing door hinges, handles, latches, and other hardware.
Conduct basic repairs to greenhouse structures, including frames, panels, benches, and shelving.
Assist with minor plumbing, electrical, and mechanical maintenance as needed.
Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
Support seasonal preparation tasks such as sealing, caulking, and minor weatherproofing.
Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe; follow all safety protocols.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from greenhouse staff or management.
Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of general maintenance and repair methods.
Ability to safely operate common hand tools and power tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physical ability to lift, bend, and work in various weather conditions.
Reliability and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Work Environment:
Primarily greenhouse and outdoor settings.
Exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and greenhouse-related conditions.
