Nesco Resource has partnered with a well-established nationally recognized company with a long-standing presence in critical infrastructure and public service.to identify a Senior Paralegal.with 5-10 years of experience with New York defense litigation.
- This is an onsite position to work Mon-Fri 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (potential to move to a hybrid schedule after fully trained (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
- Pay Rate: $60-70/hr
- 6-month contract - option to continue to be extended.
- Assist attorneys in the preparation of pending litigation actions; prepare and draft pleadings and responses to discovery demands served on or by the Company.
- Handle extensive document production and coordinate the preparation of information in an efficient and timely manner.
- Maintain case files and matters
- Coordinate with and advise management personnel in providing document responses to discovery requests.
- Analyze documents and catalog exhibits.
- Perform legal research and cite check briefs.
- Prepare all required legal documents, including issuing daily/weekly reports
- Monitor cases and handle other tasks related to litigation and other law areas
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
- Initiate/maintain legal holds (via software). Knowledge of court deadlines, review of CPLR and other court/procedural rules related to deadlines and submission requirements, and calendaring deadlines
- Maintain electronic document repositories and document review platforms/software
- Handle e-filing of documents on PACER, NYCEF, and other state or federal agencies
Required Skills:
- Strong background in drafting discovery responses, discovery demands and various types of motions
- Must have 5-10 years of experience with New York Insurance Defense Litigation and be well-versed in New York Practice
- Good faith letter writing
- Experience in regulatory state and federal matters and/or rate case litigation
- Experience with regulatory matters, PSC filings, and rate case proceedings
