About the Role
We are seeking a Vision and Robotics Engineer to join a growing automation team. This is a hands-on role for someone with proven robotics controls experience who can jump in immediately, take ownership of current projects, and help drive new automation initiatives in the pipeline.
You'll work independently on vision and automation projects while collaborating with a close-knit team of five engineers on robotics initiatives. This is an on-site role in Chandler, AZ, with hours of Monday–Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. The position also includes up to 25% travel to customer sites, mostly across the U.S., with occasional projects requiring travel to China, Taiwan, and Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation & Controls Development
- Architect, write, simulate, and debug structured .NET C# PC-based control systems.
- Design modular, well-documented code prioritizing quality and reliability.
- HMI Development
- Create intuitive operator interfaces using WPF and Ignition.
- Robotics & Motion Integration
- Program and integrate Cartesian, SCARA, and articulated robots (Fanuc, ABB, Denso).
- Collaborate with the robotics team while independently leading vision and automation projects.
- Integrate high-precision motion systems utilizing Client and PC-based drives.
- Machine Vision Systems
- Develop and deploy machine vision solutions for inspection, alignment, and guidance using Cognex (VisionPro, In-Sight), Keyence, and Fanuc vision tools.
- System Commissioning & Deployment
- Lead debugging, validation, and customer acceptance testing.
- Travel (~25%) for system installations and support — fully reimbursed.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Robotics, Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on robotics controls engineering experience in industrial automation.
- Demonstrated ability to step into projects and deliver results quickly.
- Technical Skills:
- C# .NET, WPF, HMI/GUI development.
- Industrial communication protocols: Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profinet, Safety-rated Fieldbus.
- Multi-station PLC programming and system integration.
- Robotics programming (Fanuc, ABB, Denso).
- Machine vision (Cognex, Keyence, Fanuc).
- Other Requirements:
- Strong electromechanical and mechatronics knowledge.
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and electrical codes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 , depending on experience (higher possible for top candidates).
