System Support Engineer (DSI R&D Services Group)
The Systems Support Engineer must be committed to customer satisfaction, with the ability to follow instructions and demonstrate excellent inter-personal skills. Being a team player is essential since this position interfaces daily with coworkers and internal customers as well as various interdisciplinary functional areas within the organization. This position is based at the Client Pleasanton facility.
Working under general supervision, the Systems Support Engineer's primary responsibility will be to support the cobas Liat analyzers. Attention to detail is required for executing equipment
qualifications and recording completed work in the equipment management system.
Additional Job Requirements:
1. Prioritize daily work activities based on a Liat task list which is updated frequently
2. Ship Liats for depot repair service and receive returned Liats for placement back in the
labs
3. Induct new Liats in the equipment management system
4. Execute equipment qualifications and initiate review/approval workflow in the electronic
document management system (EDMS)
5. Add or update labeling on the Liats to reflect current status (e.g., GxP vs non-GxP)
6. All activities performed on the Liats are documented accurately and in a timely manner
using the equipment management system according to approved procedures
7. Attend daily huddle meetings to update leads and group on assignments
8. Provide timely and professional customer support at all times
9. Establish a collaborative internal customer relationship with proactive communication
10. Comply with lab safety policies, practices and procedures at all times
11. Coordinate with Lab Supervisor team members for support with lab compliance and best
practices workflows
Qualifications:
Associates degree in engineering or equivalent training with job related experience
1 - 2 years relevant work experience with basic knowledge of instrument support
Demonstrated proficiency to learn new skills and software tools
Must have strong attention to detail
Must be able to consistently follow instructions with a cooperative, "can do attitude
Must proactively communicate work status and escalate issues as soon as possible
Ability to be flexible with changing work priorities
Strong work ethic and communication skills
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering or related field
1 years in medical device industry, preferably "hands on " experience with medical
instrument maintenance
Basic understanding of molecular diagnostics products
Working knowledge of hand tools and medical device equipment
Knowledge of Quality System Requirements (QSR), In Vitro Diagnostics Directive
requirements (IVDD), and customer service concepts
Excellent inter-personal and customer relation skills
The position could extend to a total of 3 years, with extensions every 6 months depending on the performance of the contractor hired.
