Corporate Controller / Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)
Tulsa, OK — Onsite
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced financial leader to oversee all aspects of our company's accounting and reporting functions across two locations — Tulsa, OK and 1 out of state. This position may be structured as either a Corporate Controller or Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) depending on your background and experience. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead and mentor an accounting team (five direct reports) while managing core financial operations including AP/AR, payroll, cash management, internal controls, and compliance.
While the role is primarily based in Tulsa, a small percentage of travel (approximately 2–3 times per year, 1-2 day visits) will be required in our out of state location for oversight and alignment.
You'll take ownership of budgeting, forecasting, cost and margin analysis, and consolidated reporting — ensuring accurate, timely financial statements and management reports. As the primary contact for internal and external audits, you will safeguard compliance with GAAP and tax regulations. Beyond day-to-day execution, you'll partner with site leaders to align financial and operational practices and play a critical role in supporting growth initiatives such as acquisitions and expansions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team (AP/AR, payroll, Controller, and support staff).
- Responsible for maintaining costed bills of materials, including FIFO costing, labor and overhead rates, and analyzing favorable/unfavorable variances.
- Oversee financial operations across two locations.
- Manage AP/AR, payroll, inventory management, and general ledger functions.
- Drive budgeting, forecasting, cost/margin analysis, and consolidated reporting.
- Analyze financial results and budgets, deliver insights and recommendations to support executive decision-making.
- Ensure all financial reporting, audits, and project deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX (if applicable), and tax regulations.
- Serve as primary liaison with internal and external auditors.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Partner with site leaders to align financial and operational practices.
- Support year-end responsibilities including cycle counts, inventory management, and pre-audit activities.
- Deliver financial due diligence and integration support for acquisitions ($2M–$20M) (a plus).
- Present financial insights and recommendations directly to the CEO and executive leadership team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's a plus).
- CPA strongly preferred but not required.
- 7 years of progressive accounting/finance leadership experience.
- Strong financial leadership with hands-on manufacturing accounting background.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, internal controls, and ERP systems (Infor VISUAL a plus).
- Proficiency with pivot tables, Power BI, and ERP/analytics integration.
- Proven ability to lead teams, communicate effectively, and present complex financial data to executives.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting strict deadlines for both financial reporting and project deliverables.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (2–3 times per year) out of state for site oversight.
Why This Opportunity?
This is a rare chance to step into a high-impact leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO and shaping both financial operations and strategy for a growing manufacturing organization. You'll lead a capable team, oversee operations across two locations, contribute to meaningful expansion initiatives, and have the ability to leave a lasting mark on the company's financial success.
