Job Title: Senior Cost Accountant
Location: Glendale, AZ – Onsite only (no remote or hybrid option)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance team. This role will focus on cost accounting, general ledger responsibilities, and serving as a finance liaison for operations. The Senior Cost Accountant will oversee inventory analysis, cost reporting, and the development of cost accounting processes, while also participating in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong analytical skills, and has familiarity with lot accounting.
Key Responsibilities

Collect, analyze, and interpret financial data related to cost of goods sold (materials, labor, overhead).

Oversee costing techniques and ensure accuracy of methods.

Prepare monthly journal entries tied to inventory and cost valuations.

Perform detailed analysis of inventory and COGS accounts.

Develop and maintain standard labor rates for internal repair operations.

Monitor cost performance and support variance analysis (labor and overhead).

Coordinate and reconcile physical inventory counts and cycle counts.

Analyze count results, propose adjustments, and ensure accuracy.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate financial performance, pricing, and resource allocation.

Manage and evaluate inventory reserve and release processes.

Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.

Support external audits and respond to ad-hoc GL or inventory requests.
Required Qualifications

5 years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in cost accounting.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Strong knowledge of US GAAP.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Background in product costing, inventory management, and variance analysis.

Experience working with ERP systems and cost movement analysis.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Detail-oriented with high integrity and strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications

CPA certification preferred.

Combination of public accounting and industry experience.

Aviation industry background a plus.

Experience with Quantum ERP a plus.
Physical & Work Environment
