Process Engineer

Summary
We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our team at a heavy manufacturing facility in Ohio. In this role, you will provide process engineering and technical support for melt shop (electric arc furnaces) and roaster operations. The initial focus will be on final configuration and technical support for a new plant's melt shop and roaster prior to start-up, as well as during commissioning, start-up, and early-stage operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead by example and comply with all company safety, environmental, and business conduct requirements.

  • Foster and promote a positive, respectful work environment aligned with company values.

  • Provide training and guidance to team members to ensure safety and reduce environmental risk; build a culture of engagement in safety practices.

  • During ongoing operations, develop, assess, and implement process improvements that enhance equipment reliability, productivity, capacity, throughput, quality, and efficiency.

  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to optimize melt shop and roaster production while reducing cost.

  • Lead continuous improvement activities and initiatives.

  • Collect and analyze operational data using scientific and statistical methods; develop reports to track and monitor key performance indicators.

  • Support capital improvement projects and initiatives.

  • Conduct risk analysis of equipment, processes, and systems.

  • Serve as back-up supervisor for the Operations department as needed.

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in metallurgical engineering or chemical engineering required; extractive metallurgical engineering preferred. MS or MBA a plus.

  • 3–5 years of related experience required; heavy manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong process, technical, and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiment (DOE) methodologies.

  • Prior project management experience a strong plus.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Supervisory experience a plus.

  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and a continuous improvement mindset
