Summary
As a Quality Technician you will have an opportunity to help our clients reduce their environmental footprint on the planet. You will be responsible for providing support for Tier 1 supplier/manufacturer of hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen dispensing units, and hydrogen storage, compression, and flow systems. The position is vital to drive product quality improvements by raising awareness to enhancement opportunities within manufacturing systems and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and approve incoming material by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, manufactured parts for conformity to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
- Inspect a variety of units using measuring/inspection instruments (e.g., micrometers, gauges, and calipers) with proper inspection techniques.
- Make decisions regarding product acceptance per product documentation and company workmanship criteria.
- Document inspection activities on appropriate inspection records.
- Read, interpret, and utilize Quality policies, procedures, blueprints, and other documentation.
- Complete First Article Inspection (FAI) and forms to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Plan and perform internal process audits.
- Support the preparation of operational procedures and instructions in accordance with ISO 9001, 2015/IATF 16949 requirements.
- Assist with generating and submitting Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages per AIAG guidelines.
- Perform dimensional inspections, capability studies, Gauge R&R studies, and audits as needed to support quality concerns, APQP and PPAP.
- Participate in corrective action teams to identify the root cause of a problem and implement effective corrective actions.
- Maintain transactions related to inspection and nonconforming processes.
- Participate in quality improvement projects for products and processes.
- Knowledge of blueprint reading/Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T).
- Capable of performing gage studies.
- Basic AIAG and related quality system knowledge of ISO 9001, 2015/IATF 16949, and ISO 14001 strongly desired.
- Understanding of 5S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize and support) and lean six sigma preferred.
- Able to maintain confidentiality on products, services, and processes.
- Familiarity with AS9102, First Article Inspection & Final Inspection processes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Accuracy and attention to detail is highly important
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Effective problem-solving skills and decision-making skills
- Computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
- Associate’s degree from an accredited university or college in a technical field or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality environment preferred.
