Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Logistics Specialist for a 3-month contract with one of our valued clients in the defense manufacturing industry. This role is vital to operational efficiency, supporting shipping, receiving, and inventory processes to ensure materials are where they need to be, when they need to be there. This position is ideal for someone with a steady work history, solid inventory skills, and the ability to balance desk work with hands-on materials handling.

Shift:

  • Monday – Friday
  • 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay:

  • $20.00 – $25.00 an Hour (Based on Experience)

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Receive incoming materials using established processes for departments such as Production, Facilities, and Engineering.

  • Open, verify, and receive deliveries into inventory using Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.

  • Deliver approved job materials to proper inventory locations or production workstations.

  • Maintain clean, secure, and organized inventory and shipping/receiving areas.

  • Process outbound shipments: pack items, create packing lists and shipping labels.

  • Coordinate deliveries with carriers (FedEx, US Government Client, UPS, couriers).

  • Track incoming/outgoing packages and maintain accurate records.

  • Operate electric pallet jack for internal material handling (no forklift required).

  • Perform 60% computer-based work and 40% physical/materials handling work.

  • Perform additional logistics support duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory management.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or similar ERP/MRP systems (preferred).

  • Proficient with Office 365, Excel, and Word.

  • Experience with military shipping standards (MIL-STD-129) is a plus.

  • Experience with ISO 9001 environments preferred.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to follow processes precisely.

  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk up to 50% of the time.

  • Capable of lifting/moving boxes and materials throughout the day.

  • Comfortable working with minimal supervision and across departments.

  • Experience shipping hazardous materials is a bonus.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Office/warehouse hybrid role: split between desk/computer work and physical material movement.

  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs regularly.

  • Use of computers, label printers, and standard shipping equipment.

  • Occasional use of step ladders and pallet jacks.

  • Collaborative, fast-paced environment supporting time-sensitive operations.
