ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sets up, operates and maintains multiple Multi-Spindle Screw/ Davenport machines (Acme, Davenport Bar / Servo/ Chucker and Euro turn) with little or no assistance. Job layouts, specifications, blueprints, work instructions and work orders are used by machinists on all jobs.
Machinist will determine tooling & equipment required to maintain time cycles to company production standards, feeds and speeds.
Utilizes full range of precision measuring and gauging tools to perform inspection before start, during and completion of production run. Inspects parts to ensure conformance, dimension and tolerance levels within specifications and blueprints using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
Performs all machine adjustments. Regulates and controls functions such as machine rate, related machine operations, coolant flow and lube oil levels. Knowledge to change out collets, feeders, spindle stops, cams and gears to layout specifications is required.
Assist operators in machine set ups and interpretation of instructions, blueprints and specifications.
Checks production requirements on layouts to assure conformance to specifications; factors such as special gear sets/shifts, rotary slotter with keyed outer spindle, special cam per part requirements and other related factors.
Performs Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks part samples per specification and acts in accordance with output and demonstrates knowledge and use of Shop Floor Systems.
Notifies supervisor or lead of major malfunctions or when machine maintenance is needed.
Performs record keeping, data entry (piece count & run time of production) and maintains housekeeping.
Reports any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or properly performed work to supervisor or lead.
Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as; burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying Supervisor.
Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.
