Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems (Senior Level)
(Engineering Client of Nesco Resource)

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer who thrives on designing building systems that make spaces safer, smarter, and more efficient? We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer (Senior Level) to lead mechanical design efforts for building projects, focusing on HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems. In this role, you'll take projects from concept through construction, working with a collaborative team and directly contributing to innovative solutions.


What You'll Do
  • Lead and support the design of building mechanical systems, including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection.
  • Develop proposals, cost estimates, and schedules to support project planning.
  • Prepare assessments, reports, and design documents that align with codes and industry standards.
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, size ductwork and piping systems, and select equipment (chillers, AHUs, heat exchangers, etc.).
  • Use AutoCAD, Revit, and design software to produce drawings and technical documents.
  • Evaluate existing systems and recommend upgrades or modifications.
  • Support fieldwork, site surveys, and provide construction-phase support.
  • Review shop drawings, collaborate with contractors and suppliers, and resolve design-related issues.
  • Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership within the mechanical team on assigned projects.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; may be required for certain projects.
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience in building systems design (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection).
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE 90.1, IMC, IECC, and NFPA codes.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical calculation software.
  • Knowledge of Plumbing and Fire Protection design is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities to deliver on commitments.
