Senior Electrical Engineer – Power & Transmission Lines

Overview
Our client, a leading engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to lead their Power and Transmission Line department. This role combines technical expertise, project leadership, and departmental management. The successful candidate will oversee the design of high-voltage power delivery systems, ensure compliance with industry standards, and mentor a team of engineers and technicians.
Key Responsibilities

Department Leadership: Direct and mentor engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.

Project Oversight: Manage power and transmission line projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.

Technical Design: Lead the design of overhead and underground transmission lines, substations, and power distribution systems, including system integration, conductor selection, and equipment specification.

Client & Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with clients, contractors, utilities, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs meet the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), National Electrical Code (NEC), and other applicable regulations.

Innovation & Improvement: Stay current on advancements in power system design and integrate best practices and new technologies.

Business Development: Support growth initiatives through proposal preparation, client engagement, and identifying new project opportunities.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years in electrical engineering with a focus on power delivery, transmission, or distribution design.

Proven success in project management and departmental leadership.

Background in substation design, site lighting, or MEP engineering is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:

Strong knowledge of NESC, NEC, and utility industry standards.

Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, and Revit.

Deep understanding of power systems, grounding, load flow, and protection.
