Senior Project Manager (Civil Engineer) – Land Development

Overview

Our client, a well-established civil engineering firm, is seeking an experienced Practice Leader / Senior Project Manager to lead their growing Land Development practice. This role combines technical project management, client relationship leadership, and business development. The right candidate will have a strong background in land development, proven project management experience, and the ability to guide a team while driving practice growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and execution of land development projects, including grading, drainage, roadway, and utility design.

• Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, and resources to ensure high-quality, on-time delivery.

• Serve as the primary client contact, providing strategic guidance and building long-term partnerships.

• Mentor, coach, and develop a team of engineers, promoting collaboration and technical excellence.

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and environmental standards.

• Oversee design and documentation using Civil 3D, GIS, and related engineering tools.

• Contribute to business development through proposals, client presentations, and project pursuits.

• Drive practice growth through financial management, strategic planning, and adoption of industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required; advanced degree (Master's or MBA) preferred.

• Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with licensure in Arizona.

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a strong focus on land development.

• Proven success as a Project Manager, overseeing technical teams and complex projects.

• Deep technical expertise in civil engineering design, construction methods, and local regulations.

• Strong client relationship management skills, with a history of repeat business and successful project delivery.

• Experience in business development and proposal leadership.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
