Coordinates with Sourcing, Operations, Design Engineering, the Supply Base and Industry experts to facilitate the design, production, test and qualification of aerospace and defense products. Analyzes technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing limitations, supplier facilities, and parts/equipment availability. Investigates and recommends potential suppliers based on assessments of response to specifications, and historical performance. Facilitate technical trade-offs and standardization that may lead to more economical procurement. Recommends design changes to mitigate production issues. Supports internal teams of Supplier and internal staff in collaboratively solving problems in Producibility, Quality, Inspection, Mistake-Proofing, Test.
Responsible for basic quality services including:
• part/product acceptance inspection planning and verification
• supplier manufacturing process and quality plan review
• defect root cause analysis and corrective action verification
• fostering positive working relationships with internal cross-functional teams and LM suppliers
• solid written & oral communication skills
• ability to evaluate manufacturing process quality plan
• ability to perform defect data trend analysis; ability to make rational, risk-based decisions
• ability to perform root cause analysis
• ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities within a cross-functional team, as well as independently with suppliers
• working understanding of mechanical/electro-mechanical hardware and associated manufacturing processes and inspections
• working familiarity with ISO9001 & AS9100 Quality Management Systems, including AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
• utilize technical document sources to retrieve and review relevant requirements for vendor parts as needed (i.e. engineering drawings, engineering change documentation, military/industry specifications, technical data sheets).
Working knowledge of EPDM, SAP, COS and P2P is a bonus.
Typical Minimums:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 4 years of professional experience.
