Summary
The Cost/Price Analyst applies principles of cost accounting to collect and analyze complex historical and estimated cost and pricing data. This role prepares and evaluates production cost performance, develops bids and proposals, conducts risk analysis, and supports contract negotiations. The Analyst ensures compliance with applicable regulations while driving process improvements within the pricing function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop basis of estimates for diverse and complex products/services by analyzing historical and operational data.

  • Create cost proposal rationale, breakdowns, and supporting data for internal and customer requirements.

  • Conduct analyses of cost and pricing data to determine projected profits/losses and perform risk assessments.

  • Represent the company in contract negotiations, ensuring profitability targets and compliance with CAS/FAR.

  • Prepare and present reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.

  • Guide and mentor less experienced employees, provide training, and support high-level projects.

  • Drive process improvements to streamline quoting and reporting, ensuring turnaround times meet customer expectations.

  • Provide make/buy analysis, evaluate proposed changes in methods/materials, and conduct profitability assessments.

  • Support compliance during government audits and act as primary pricing contact for cross-divisional projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 6 years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment with complex machining, assembly, and bills of materials.

  • Strong Excel proficiency (must-have); analyst experience preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, CAS, FAR, and industry regulations.

  • Skilled in automated estimating, pricing, and accounting systems, as well as database and spreadsheet tools.

  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with ability to prepare reports and present findings.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement continuous improvement and mentor junior staff.
