Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Estimator to join our team. The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates by evaluating project requirements, labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential risks. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and industry standards.
The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with Sales, Project Managers, Engineering, Product Managers, and Supply Chain to deliver accurate and competitive bids on time. As a senior team member, this role also includes mentoring and coaching junior estimators. The position reports directly to the Corporate Estimating Manager.
Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates using estimating software from customer specifications and drawings.

Review project specifications, drawings, and documentation to fully understand scope of work.

Create bills of material (BOM) from electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.

Draft proposals to customers including BOM, pricing, and delivery dates.

Research, source, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.

Provide mentorship and coaching to other members of the estimating team.

Assess financial, technical, and operational risks of projects.

Determine key production factors that influence costs.

Manage and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors.

Present estimates to management and stakeholders for review.

Ensure quoting output requirements and on-time delivery of proposals are met.

Collaborate with customers, project managers, and product managers to clarify scope.

Maintain quote data within ERP and CRM systems.

Complete customer forms and bid sheets as required.

Adhere to company best practices in quality, safety, and communication.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.

8 years of experience as an estimator.

8 years of experience with analytic tools (spreadsheets, databases).

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and drawings.

3 years of experience managing quotations and opportunities in Salesforce.

Basic knowledge of industrial codes (NEC, UL, IBC, etc.).

Strong customer service orientation.

High attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.

Strong analytical, observational, and communication skills (written and verbal).

Must be able to pass physical, drug, driving, and background checks.

Ability to push, pull, and lift 26 lbs or more; sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience as a Senior Estimator.

Advanced training in MS Office Suite.
