Job Description: Mig Welder/ Fabricator

A Mig Welder Fabricator cuts, shapes, and joins metal components using MIG welding equipment to create various products, often by following blueprints and maintaining safety and quality standards . Responsibilities include selecting and preparing materials, setting up equipment, ensuring weld strength, performing repairs, and maintaining a safe work environment, which can be physically demanding and requires excellent manual dexterity.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Reading & Interpreting Blueprints:
    Understand and follow technical drawings to fabricate parts to exact specifications.
  • Material Preparation:
    Select suitable metals and prepare them for welding, which may involve cleaning or cutting.
  • MIG Welding Operations:
    Set up and operate MIG welding machines to join, shape, and repair metal parts.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Inspect welds to confirm structural soundness and adherence to standards, and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Fabrication & Assembly:
    Assemble components and finished products using hand tools and machinery to shape and form materials.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and repair worn or defective parts to keep it in working order.
  • Safety & Housekeeping:
    Maintain a clean and safe workspace, following all safety protocols for this potentially hazardous work.

Key Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in MIG welding and operating welding equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and schematics.
  • Solid mechanical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and a commitment to quality standards.
  • Manual dexterity to work in various, and sometimes confined, environments.
  • Experience with other welding techniques like TIG welding or experience in sheet metal work can be a plus.
