Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Business Analyst to support our client's enterprise revenue recognition system. This individual will become a subject matter expert in the platform and processes, working cross-functionally with Accounting/Finance, and Technical teams. Responsibilities include gathering requirements, supporting enhancements, performing reconciliations, identifying data discrepancies, and partnering with development teams on ongoing initiatives. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with senior-level accounting personnel are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and maintain clear documentation for business processes, system functionality, and configurations
  • Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks (e.g., SOX) when introducing new features or workflows
  • Own and update the system playbook, including core processes and closing procedures
  • Translate business needs into enhancement requirements, write user stories, and develop test cases for user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Partner with software developers to define requirements and answer clarifying questions during implementation
  • Support business users by troubleshooting technical issues and identifying root causes
  • Perform data analysis to uncover trends, inconsistencies, or process inefficiencies and propose solutions
  • Confidently lead meetings with accounting leadership to communicate updates and guide decisions
  • Manage end-user support and take ownership of system configuration
  • Facilitate and validate internal testing efforts with QA teams
  • Contribute to long-term roadmap planning by gathering input from stakeholders
  • Assist with drafting training content and leading knowledge transfer sessions
  • Lead periodic assessments to identify and prioritize new system needs
  • Collaborate with the development team to create release documentation
  • Help debug data issues in collaboration with engineering teams during UAT or production support phases

Must-Have Requirements

  • 5 years as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or similar
  • Familiarity with financial/accounting systems (ASC 606 knowledge preferred)
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and data validation
  • Proven experience documenting user stories, test cases, and enhancements
  • Effective communication and comfort presenting to senior accounting staff

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Phinsys or similar accounting platforms
  • Strong understanding of SOX compliance standards
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and integrations
  • Exposure to Agile or hybrid SDLC methodologies
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or IT
