Position: Calibration Technician I

Calibration Technician I is an entry-level position that requires either formal education in the electronics/calibration field or at least one (1) year of calibration experience. Technicians at this level typically calibrate low-end process instrumentation in up to three (3) disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Dimensional, or Pressure). Proficiency and expertise are determined in accordance with the company's technician skills progression matrix.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other technicians to learn calibration fundamentals, including measurement, temperature, and electronics.

  • Identify and apply appropriate measurement techniques.

  • Maintain calibration standards.

  • Develop working knowledge and competency in at least three (3) disciplines (dimensional, electrical, torque, temperature, pressure, etc.).

  • Perform calibration work in a laboratory setting and/or at customer sites under supervision.

  • Adhere to company safety and quality standards.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Travel requirement: 25–50%.

Primary Objectives

  • Learn fundamental calibration skills and techniques.

  • Develop the skills necessary to perform calibrations independently.

  • Progress toward Calibration Technician II, which requires competency in at least four (4) disciplines and expert-level competency in one (1) discipline.

  • Deliver high-quality, accurate, and reliable calibration services.


Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Successful completion of assigned training through on-the-job instruction, online content, LMS, and/or classroom learning.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to quickly acquire new technical skills.

  • Ability to take direction, apply feedback, and work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Valid driver's license with at least 3 years of driving experience and an acceptable driving record.

Education and Experience

  • Required: Associate degree in electronics, engineering technology, or related field; OR at least one (1) year of relevant calibration experience/training; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Preferred:

    • Prior experience or training in electronics or machining.

    • Basic math proficiency (algebra, geometry, statistics).

    • Familiarity with basic hand tools.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

    • Strong organizational and time management skills.

    • Experience in PMEL, PME, TMDE, Metrology, Calibration, ASQ CCT, METCAL, GPETE, Electronics, GCAMS, or Avionics.


Physical Demands

  • Must be able to read, write, talk, and hear.

  • Frequently required to sit and use hands/fingers to handle tools and equipment.

  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • Occasionally required to lift up to 75 lbs.

Work Environment

  • Regular exposure to risks of electrical shock.

  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts.

  • Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, heights, airborne particles, chemicals, outdoor weather, and vibration.

  • Noise level is usually moderate.
