Position Summary

We are seeking an energetic and experienced Collections Specialist to join the Finance team. This role is responsible for managing a customer portfolio to ensure timely collections, resolving account issues, and supporting overall cash flow performance. The ideal candidate has the ability to balance firm but professional conversations with customers, while maintaining strong business relationships. As a member of the Accounts Receivable team, you'll work collaboratively with Sales, Billing, Customer Service, and Cash Applications teams to optimize collections processes.

This position is based in Tampa, FL and requires working 3 days per week onsite (hybrid schedule).


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage customer portfolio to ensure prompt payment in accordance with terms.

  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to resolve disputes and address payment delays.

  • Identify trends that may indicate customer financial risks and take proactive measures.

  • Review credit limits, recommend adjustments, and monitor accounts placed on credit hold.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Billing, Customer Service, and Cash Applications teams to ensure smooth order-to-cash operations.

  • Document all collection activities in YayPay and apply team processes consistently.

  • Share insights and suggestions for process improvements within the AR team.

  • Support audits and participate in special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Prior experience in credit and collections, cash applications, or billing.

  • Associate degree in Finance or Accounting preferred (not required).

  • Basic understanding of accounting and order-to-cash cycle (invoices, debits, credits, internal controls).

  • Experience with ERPs, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams), and customer portals.

  • Familiarity with a cash collections system such as YayPay.

  • Strong customer service, written, and verbal communication skills to manage disputes and queries.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Positive attitude, proactive approach, and ability to manage deadlines effectively.
