Job Duties :
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Location: QA Lab
Is in the lab 90% of the time
Must back-up all other QA technicians during lunches, breaks, when they are absent and when they are on vacation or out of work
Checks email several times daily
Checks in all samples provided by production by performing sensory testing, salt testing, pH testing, and moisture testing. Records these values on the COA and appropriate salt/pH log.
Keeps lab clean and organized
Enters all samples on the finished good log
Prints labels per the production schedule. This includes the labels for the matrix bag printing.
Fills out the label log
Fills out hold tags and the hold log when product is to be put on hold. Puts hold tags on product as needed.
Notifies manager of supplies needed at least 10 days prior to running out
Helps to investigate customer complaints an evaluate product for consistency
Keeps up with filling deionized water jugs
Weighs out red color and oleoresins in the lab for production when weight of these materials is < 1.0 lbs
Adds math on all blending procedures towards the end of the day by picking up sheets in front of warehouse office. Notifies Warehouse if math is incorrect before leaving for the day.
Helps to review/verify records and file records
Notifies QA Manager or Operations Management if there is a risk to food safety or product quality
Has the ability and authority to "stop the line if there is an immediate food safety or quality risk
Keeps track of any KPI requirements
Location: Production Floor and Warehouse
Is on the floor 90% of the time

Checks staged blends prior to releasing them to the blenders. Records any staging errors (on clipboard) and sends pallets back to the warehouse for correction.
Pulls micro samples (labels bags, pulls retain)
Pulls pre-shipment samples
Fills out hold tags and the hold log when product is to be put on hold. Puts hold tags on product as needed.
Puts counts on finished product log as product is completed (throughout the day)
Inspects pallets and validates information. Puts flags on pallets with QC sticker. Puts yellow micro flags on pallets that require micros
Does scale calibrations in rooms. Fills out the scale calibration paperwork.
Does paperwork checks in each room and signs the QA verification places on each paper (Metal Detector, Bag/Case Check), 2 times per day
Responsible for tool and knife control program for Production
Conducts Cleaning Inspections and records information on cleaning inspection forms
Conducts ATP and Allergen Swabs
May have to send prepare SARFs and package micro samples for shipment towards the end of the day

Sends end of the day notes for the morning QA regarding any rooms checks, warnings, observations, things to be complete, etc.
Required Competencies & Knowledge:
Knowledge of:
Carolina Ingredients, Inc. (CII) procurement, products, and production processes.
ERP Knowledge and experience.

Proficiency in: MS Office Suite, Microsoft GP a Plus
Work Environment:
Ability to work in a light to high noise environment.
Communicate in English to give acknowledgement.
Physical Requirements:
Reaching with hands and arms throughout shift.
Ability to use hands and fingers.
Ability to see, hear and talk.
Employee frequently required to sit.
Occasionally required to walk, climb and/or balance.
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
Walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas.
Minimum Qualifications:
College degree
Minimum of 2 years experience
