About the Role
Our client, a leading organization in the oil & gas sector, is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join their team on a long-term contract. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a diverse workforce while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities

Process multi-cycle payroll for exempt, non-exempt, and field employees.

Validate timesheets, work hours, overtime, and bonuses in alignment with company policies and applicable labor laws.

Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring accuracy of tax withholdings, deductions, and direct deposit details.

Handle payroll adjustments including corrections, retroactive pay, and garnishments.

Generate payroll reports for finance, HR, and leadership teams as required.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams on payroll-related issues.

Assist in payroll audits and year-end reporting (W-2, 1099, etc.).
Qualifications

3–5 years of payroll experience, preferably within oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.

Strong understanding of federal and Texas state payroll laws.

Proficiency in payroll systems (ADP, Workday, Oracle, or similar).

Advanced Excel skills and ability to manage large data sets.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work onsite in Houston on a daily basis.
