Position Overview

The Staff Accountant position provides critical support to the Finance team by assisting with core accounting operations, financial reporting, and strategic analysis. This role works closely with the Director of Accounting, Director of Revenue Cycle Management, and CFO to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data, support monthly and annual closings, and contribute to long-term financial planning. This is a hybrid position allowing for remote work up to 4 days per week!

Location: Schenectady, NY (Hybrid Schedule)
Compensation: $32/hr.
This is a Long-term Contract position!

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain quarterly cost reports for providers.
  • Generate and distribute bi-weekly actual vs. budget reports, including key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics.
  • Track monthly financial performance of partner organizations and communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Reconcile invoicing files from Unite Us with billing data in Millin RCM for Medicaid FFS and managed care organizations.
  • Assist in reconciling per-member-per-month (PMPM) payments across systems such as Millin, Data Factory/Power BI, and bank statements.
  • Ensure internal accounting policies and procedures are followed to protect assets and maintain financial accuracy.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records for vendors and providers.
  • Support general ledger functions, including journal entry preparation and financial close processes.
  • Maintain monthly and annual account reconciliations and assist with external audits.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process and help monitor spending plans.
  • Support the development and refinement of financial plans and forecasts.
  • Respond to requests for financial data and prepare custom reports and analyses as needed.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
 
Experience and Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional accounting or finance experience.
  • Experience with NetSuite and intercompany transactions preferred.
  • Background in nonprofit finance is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
